On May 22, after nearly two hours in executive session, the Holbrook City Council voted unanimously to accept the amendment to the City Manager Employment Agreement, which permitted the resignation of Randy Sullivan as city manager, while allowing him to continue working as interim city manager for 60 days with same rate of compensation he had received as city manager.
Upon conclusion of the 60-day period, Sullivan will return to his position as the city’s finance director and receive his prior salary.
The amendment further stated that during those 60 days, the manager would communicate with the mayor and council members as reasonably required but he would have no obligation to appear before the city council at the meetings as Human Resource Director Pat Nichols can act as his liaison.
All council members were present for the meeting and City Attorney Marlene Pontrelli attended via phone.
Holbrook Chamber of Commerce Director Cindy Tafoya addressed the council regarding the upcoming Holbrook drone video that will be filmed every weekend until June 9.
Tafoya said the goal is to showcase the businesses and amenities in Holbrook. “We have a great community and want to promote all of our businesses,” Tafoya shared. The cost for outside footage of a business including the sign is $50. For interior and exterior shots, the cost is $100. The video will be linked to the city and county websites. Tafoya said that the cutoff date was May 15, but business owners can still contact her at (928) 241-1850 and she will try to get them into the video.
In the updates on the city personnel policy, there were three places where the wording was changed from “may” or “should,” to “shall.” With regard to weapons in the workplace section, “employee licensed to carry the weapon”, was changed to “employee authorized to carry the weapon”.
The job posting places were changed to include city hall, the library, the city website and the Arizona Department of Economic Security website. The council unanimously voted in agreement with the changes.
In other business, the council:
