Five of the six east region baseball teams were in action on April 27 in the 3A State Play-in games. Holbrook, Payson and Show Low all finished in a three-way tie for first in the east. Holbrook was crowned the winner by virtue of tiebreakers. The Roadrunners were also the only region team not having to play on Friday. The Roadrunners were automatically seeded into the final 16-team bracket, although their opponent wasn’t determined until the conclusion of the play-in games.

No. 10 Show Low will host No. 23 Page; No. 11 Payson hosts No. 22 Chinle; and No. 15 Blue Ridge will host No. 18 Odyssey Institute. Winslow ranked 17th will travel to face No. 16 Valley Christian; and No. 19 Snowflake will be on the road to Tucson playing No. 14 Pusch Ridge.

If any of the east region teams advance they will join Holbrook in the opening round of the state tournament, which begins on May 4 in Goodyear. Those teams failing to advance on Friday will have their seasons come to a close.
