Each year the Ragnar Relay Series is held in different locations throughout the country. The race involves 12-man relay teams taking part in a long distance run over a two-day period. Holbrook Assistant City Manager Randy Sullivan and his brother Mike Sullivan of Illinois recruited nine other teammates, including Holbrook city employees Michael Young and John Guttery, and formed the Ragnorsemen Beards and a Babe team.
Together they ran 192 miles in 28 hours from Hull to Provincetown, Mass. Their team came in 162nd among the 509 teams participating. The team ran as Vikings and as soon as the race was over, all but the “Babe” shaved and got haircuts.
