During last week’s Holbrook City Council meeting, the council approved leasing a 2,000-sq. ft. metal building located at the old Northland Pioneer College site on East Hermosa Drive to the Hashknife Posse.

“The posse is overcrowded in their existing building, and since ABC Ministries has moved out of the building on the old campus, we could offer them the same 25-year lease for a cost of $1 since they are also a non-profit. They would use the building for their meetings, and search and rescue training, as well as have space for their horses,” explained Interim City Manager Randy Sullivan.

Councilwoman Francie Payne spoke up regarding their current building and property adjacent to the Holbrook Senior Citizens facility on East Joy Nevin Avenue, saying, “I was told that the posse was approached a while back and said they would allow their property to be used for expansion of the senior center parking lot if they were to get a building from the city.”

Sullivan nodded, saying, “That’s in the works. We want to make certain this building will be something that will work for them before we get into that discussion.”

With that, the council gave unanimous approval to the lease.
