After nearly an hour in executive session regarding settlement discussions to avoid litigation in the Louis Baldonado, Jr., case, the Holbrook City Council passed a motion to accept the terms of an agreement between Baldonado and the city to settle the case on Feb. 27.
According to the agreement obtained by The Tribune-News, it was noted that Baldonado’s employment was terminated effective April 11, 2016, and that the city will pay Baldonado the total sum of $25,000.
In the lawsuit filed by Baldonado a year ago, he claimed civil rights violations and interference with an employment contract on the part of former City Manager Ray Alley, all stemming from the time he was employed by the city. Baldonado claimed the actions caused harm to his professional reputation, and was seeking lost wages, attorney’s fees and other costs associated with bringing the action, as well as interest on any judgment due.
