City of Holbrook1
If something looks just a little different at Gillespie Park in Holbrook, it’s not what was added but what was moved. After spending nearly 30 years in it’s old location, the old windmill was moved last week onto a concrete pad about 30 feet from its original location. The windmill, which is believed to be over 100 years old, was originally placed in the park prior to when grass was put in and over the years the watering has ruined the wood at the base, making it in danger of toppling. In the new location the windmill is once again secure as a symbol of Holbrook’s Old West.
