Both the Holbrook boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will be in action at the Northern Arizona University Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff this weekend.

The Roadrunners are the No. 1 seed in the Division III State Tournament and will face the No. 16 Saf-ford Bulldogs, who upended Payson in opening round action on Tuesday night. The Roadrunners are heavy favorites to return to Jobing.com in Glendale as one of the final four teams. They face Safford at 7:30 to-night (Feb. 17). With a win, they would see either No. 8 North Pointe or No. 9 Valley Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.

The Lady Roadrunners also earned a first round bye and are the sixth overall seed in the 24-team field. They will most likely face Window Rock for the second time in a week. The Lady Scouts were to host Se-dona on Wednesday night, with the winner advancing to meet Holbrook at 12 noon on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Skydome. With a win the Lady Birds would move on to Prescott Valley to face Tuba City, St. Johns or Valley Sanders at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Holbrook is in a very difficult part of the bracket, but with solid play has the ability to advance to the final four.
