Holbrook’s final two weeks of the regular basketball season will be fully packed with games, thanks in part to rescheduled games due to inclement weather in December and last week. The Roadrunners will play four games this week and four next week. The Lady Roadrunners will play three in the penultimate week of the regular season, then join the boys in playing four games next week to close out the regular season.
After playing at Show Low tonight (Jan. 24), the Roadrunners play Blue Ridge on Thursday in Lakeside. On Friday they hit the road once again for games at Snowflake. On Saturday, they will host Chinle for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff. Next week the boys will host Winslow on Tuesday, Page on Wednesday and Monument Valley on Thursday. On Friday they close out the regular season at Payson.
The Roadrunners need to have two quality weeks to ensure a trip to the state tournament. They are 7-9 overall and 3-7 in power point contests, and entered this week ranked 18th. With eight games remaining they will need to stay in the top 24 in order to make post-season play.
The Lady Roadrunners are in a better position, sitting at 16-4 overall and 8-3 in power rankings, good enough to be ranked fifth at the beginning of the week. They currently have a two-game lead in the East Region standings and if they win the region crown, they will host the region tournament in two weeks.
Basketball fans will have plenty of opportunities to watch the Roadrunner teams in action the next couple of weeks.
