On Sept. 3, the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of an allegation from a student against a teacher at Mogollon High School in Heber. The report indicated that a 15-year-old boy and a high school teacher were involved in an inappropriate relationship.

After a six-week investigation Melinda Porter, 36, of Heber/Overgaard was arrested for kidnapping, aggravated assault and three counts of furnishing harmful items to a minor.

Porter was booked into the Navajo County Jail in Holbrook.
