The Holbrook Chamber of Commerce hosted the community awards banquet last week honoring those individuals the chamber felt contributed most to the community in 2015.

Those honored included Frankie and Pee Wee Maestas as Business Man and Woman of the Year, Emily Eavenson as Youth of the Year, Travel Centers of America as Business of the Year and the Holbrook Old West Cemetery Group as Organization of the Year.

The Maestases were longtime owners and operators of the Wayside Café, which recently closed its doors after decades of operation.

Emily Eavenson represents Holbrook as Miss Navajo County Teen, organizing several events to bring awareness to children struggling with hunger in the county and throughout the state.

The Holbrook Old West Cemetery Group has contributed to the community with the clean up and restoration of the old section of the Holbrook cemetery. Through its efforts many unmarked gravesites now have stone markers and the records of those buried there have been organized.

Travel Centers of America was also honored, with manager Troy Klein accepting the award for the business and it’s contribution to Holbrook’s economy.
