Happy Holbrook Month is here! For those of you that have Facebook, each day there is a focus on a resident of the city, and the joy and happiness that they bring to their friends and neighbors. I’m not sure when this Month of April celebration began but I feel confident when I say the city wouldn’t be celebrating it if it wasn’t for its mayor, Kathleen Smith. We’ve been friends for many years and this is by far her favorite celebration because it puts a focus on the city’s most valuable asset: the people that live there. Every day this month she posts on the Holbrook Facebook pages a different resident, young and old, who brings positivity to those around them. An example of those featured so far (as of Tribune deadline) are Pat Pogue, Tyrell Sulu, Debbie McKee, Salma Parcell, Darnell Nez, Nichole Tow and Stephen Rutherford. If you know these folks, you know why they’re being celebrated. On April 29, the city, along with the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce and Grow Arizona will be hosting the Happy Holbrook Hullabaloo at Hunt Park. There will be free food and lots of fun but even better than that, there will be the people of Holbrook, celebrating their community. It’s an exciting time for Holbrook, I hope to see you all there.
