Spring is a wonderful time of year, and April in Holbrook holds even more promise thanks to Happy Holbrook. “Happy Holbrook is a month-long celebration that honors the good happening in our city, and especially the incredible people of Holbrook,” said Mayor Kathleen Smith.
Happy Holbrook shines a spotlight on those who uplift the community through their everyday actions. “So many people selflessly dedicate their time to help others, and this is the perfect time to recognize those individuals who go above and beyond, often without any public acknowledgment,” Smith explained. “From coaches and neighbors helping one another to strangers offering assistance to those in need, and countless other acts of service done anonymously, this month is all about celebrating these wonderful people.”
As part of the celebration, 24 happy face rocks have been hidden throughout the community. Each rock found can be brought to the Holbrook City Office, located at 465 N. First Ave., to redeem for a “Happy Holbrook bag,” a lunch bag full of candy and snacks.
In addition, throughout the month, Happy Holbrook highlights a community member on social media with a summary of their efforts and positive attributes. “All of our Happy Holbrook spotlights have come from other members in our community, nominating those people they feel have contributed to making Holbrook a little happier,” said Smith. To nominate someone in the community, email Smith at mayorkathleensmith@gmail.com with a photo of your nominee, a little bit about who they are and the reasons why they should be nominated.
