On Wednesday, Feb. 12, the Navajo County Superior Court found Rick Pogue, 56, of Arenas Valley, N.M., guilty on seven counts of sexual conduct with a minor, a dangerous crime against a child, and seven counts of kidnapping. Both crimes are Class 2 felonies. These crimes occurred in the unincorporated area of Winslow and Joseph City in Arizona, between the years of 2001 and 2011 and the victim in this case reported these crimes in 2017 to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office. Even though these crimes had occurred prior to 2017, Navajo County Sheriff’s Office fully investigated the allegations, bringing justice for the victim and her family. Sentencing is scheduled to take place on April 7. According to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, this a huge win for the victim and her family along with the department and the Navajo County Attorney’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office of Navajo County encourages all victims of sexual assault, regardless of when it occurred, to report it to their local law enforcement agency. Sheriff David Clouse states, “This is a great example of the excellent work done by the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit. I am proud of the work they do every day.”
