christmas tree

An annual holiday favorite in the Holbrook community, the Chamber of Commerce sponsored Festival of Trees, is slated Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 1-3, at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Family Parish Center. What is the Festival of Trees? It’s a walk through a “winter wonderland” of decorated trees to the accompaniment of Christmas music while munching on just-out-of-the-oven gingerbread cookies and sipping hot chocolate. It’s a time to meet and chat with friends and neighbors while enjoying a plethora of beautifully decorated trees. It’s an opportunity to catch the Christmas spirit at the start of the season before the holiday rush begins. There is no charge for this community event, but a silent auction of beautiful, handcrafted wreaths will be available to bid upon throughout each evening. Schools, clubs, businesses, families and individuals are encouraged to enter a tree in the festival. Set-up times are 4 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, and 8 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Dec. 1. To register a tree, contact Mindy Moyle, director of the Chamber of Commerce by stopping by the Chamber offices in the Old Courthouse any weekday morning, by emailing her at holbrookazchamber1@gmail.com, or by calling 524-6558 (office) or (928) 241-3311 (cell). All trees must be taken down at the conclusion of the festival at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, unless other arrangements are made. To provide live background holiday music in half-hour increments throughout the festival, contact chamber board member Jeff Johnson at peace.lutheran.holbrook@gmail.com, or 524-2718 (office) or (928) 421-9061 (cell). Groups, choirs, ensembles and soloists are welcome. The hours of the festival are 6 to 9 o’clock on each of the three nights of the event excepting Saturday night, when the festival will open around 7 o’clock, just after the Parade of Lights concludes.
