Eubert John Smith Jr. Eubert John (E.J. or Smitty) Smith Jr., formerly of Holbrook, died on Saturday, July 3, 2021, in Albuquerque, N.M. Born Dec. 5, 1951, in El Reno, Okla., the family moved to Albuquerque in May 1963. E.J. attended Rio Grande High School. E.J. went to work digging trees and hauling rocks. He fell in love with the mountains. He supplied many nurseries for many years. He also hauled yuccas from Texas. He took CDL training and became a long-haul truck driver driving from the east coast to the west coast. He could remember jokes he heard on the C.B. or at a truck stop. He could keep you laughing for hours. He leaves behind three children, Amber and Sam of New Mexico and John of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; brothers, John (Judy) of Albuquerque, Kenneth (Cheryl) of Sun Valley and Ronald (Rakael) of Holbrook; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald.
