Parents, coaches, Snowflake High School administration, family and teammates were on hand last week to watch Emma Tenney, a senior at SHS, sign for a four-year volleyball scholarship to Dixie State University, St. George, Utah, on Monday, Nov. 17.
Emma had expressed concern that coming from a small school she wouldn’t qualify for a scholarship at a four-year college.
“Talent is talent, and when you have talent, you can play at any level,” said SHS Athletic Director Kevin Standefer as he congratulated her for her talent as a volleyball player at SHS and her ability to move on to the next level.
Ron Tenney, Emma’s dad, thanked everyone, including the coaches, teammates and family, for their support. “This will be a new opportunity for Emma to go to a four-year university and have most of her education paid,” he said. “She has done good with her grades and that’s helped her.”
Volleyball Coach Alan Ramage said that this is one of the biggest signings SHS has had, adding that it’s been a good season, not just for Emma, but for all the girls. He noted that it has been fun coaching her the past few years.
