I am the art teacher at Holbrook High School. I have called Holbrook home for 15 years and three of my six kids were born here. I grew up a Navy brat, so I have lived here longer than any other place. We love the people here. We have made connections in this community that will last our whole life. I coached football and wrestling at the junior high. A while ago I heard a man say, “If you’re here it’s because God wants you here.” My wife and I took this to heart and decided we are here for good.

I believe in small government. A small group devoted to the people can do more good than a large group that knows nothing about its people. The forefathers created a system of government that limited itself and gave power to people. I believe that same principle should be applied to Holbrook. Sometimes a new ordinance or law is needed, but for the most part the council should focus on existing laws and ordinances, not creating more bureaucracy. Flagstaff is a good example of what I’m talking about. The city council passes resolutions that are in no way enforceable and end up costing the people there more money.

If elected I want to change people’s perception of the city council. When I mention that I’m running for a council seat, nothing but negative words about the council are spoken. I believe that we can change this by focusing on the people and not the council itself. We are elected to be servants of the people and not the other way around.
