A town hall discussion on rural economic development featuring candidates for the District 1 Congressional seat will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, in the George Gardner Performing Arts Center on the Holbrook High School campus. The forum will be hosted by the City of Holbrook with support from Navajo County. It is open to the general public, with neighboring communities invited. The evening will open with a question and answer discussion led by moderator Michael Gardner of Triadvocates, followed by a question and answer session from members of the audience. Each candidate will be given a set amount of time to respond (approximately two minutes). Candidates who have confirmed they will participate in the town hall include, Democrat Miguel Olivas, and Republicans Paul Babeu, Ken Bennett, David Gowan, Gary Kiehne, Shawn Redd and Wendy Rogers. After the program, a brief meet and greet will be held in the lobby, and refreshments will be served.
