This Friday and Saturday Holbrook celebrates its roots with Old West Fest. Holbrook has a unique history that could have been inspiration for a Louis L’Amour story, with gunslingers, bandits, outlaws and a sheriff with distinctive long flowing blonde hair who was a crack shot with a .45. Although this year’s events will be hosted at the Navajo County Fairgrounds, you can learn more about the birth of Holbrook and walk on the very ground where this history took place at the Navajo County Historic Courthouse and the historic Blevins house. It’s a great opportunity to visit with friends and family, and have a reminder of what it took to create our communities.

If you think back what life was in this region over 100 years ago and the hardships that were endured to carve a home and livelihood out of the land, it’s easy to understand the reason to celebrate. We are fortunate to live here and fortunate to know the history that brought this area to life. Holbrook has come from being a rough and dangerous town to one many call home. So come on out and enjoy the day, enjoy your neighbors and take a moment to pay homage to those that came before and tamed the Wild West.
