Photo by Linda KorIt’s a little chilly outside but that doesn’t mean a trip to the Petrified Forest National Park isn’t in order. Along with the pleasant drive through the park, the Painted Desert Inn National Landmark has an impressive history and beautiful interiors including this glass ceiling with the panels designed by National Park architect Lyle Bennett in the 1930s and hand painted by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Other places worth visiting include the Painted Desert Visitor Center and the Rainbow Forest Museum.
