The Assessor’s Office has the responsibility to locate and value property within its jurisdiction, while being fair and equitable and complying with the Arizona Revised Statutes. The assessment process is completed independently of the taxing jurisdictions budget. The Assessor’s Office does not control the amount of dollars assessed. The Assessor’s Office assessments are used to divide the jurisdictions budgeted into tax dollars based on the assessment of each individual property.

The position of Navajo County is a working position. As assessor, Darris currently works in the field, assists in all areas of the department when needed, as well as the modeling of all improved parcels.

Darris’s path through the Assessor’s Office is no different than any other position, she started at an entry level and gradually advanced as she continues to gain knowledge. Darris enjoys serving the citizens of Navajo County.
