Hosting Snowflake on Tuesday afternoon, Winslow’s baseball team downed the visiting Lobos 8-3.
Snowflake held a 2-0 lead after their turn in the second but in the bottom of the frame Winslow took the lead for good scoring five runs. They pushed that margin to 7-2 with a pair of fourth inning runs then scored their final run of the game in the sixth.
Ricardo Villanueva and the Bulldog defense did the rest. The Winslow ace allowed just the three runs on 10 hits with nine strikeouts and walked only one in seven innings of work.
At the dish, Winslow counted for 12 hits led by Brennan Sawyer who went 3 for 4; Alec Williams was 2 for 3; Daniel Vizcaya, 2 for 4, with a double; AJ Huerta, 2 for 4; Jalen Lyons, 1 for 4; Jacob Guerrero, 1 for 3; and Villanueva helped himself going 1 for 3.
Winslow came into the game ranked 15th and should move up with their now 8-4 record. After playing in Page on Thursday they went on the road to Blue Ridge on Friday. On Tuesday they hosted Payson.
