Football Winslow

The Winslow Bulldogs will open their 2017 football season at home against the Monument Valley Mustangs, a team they lost to by a single point in last year’s opener, but beat in the first playoff game. The Bulldogs have five home and five away games, and hopes of state playoff games to follow.

The Monument Valley game will begin at 7 p.m., as do all home games, on Friday, Aug. 25, at Emil Nasser Stadium. The Bulldogs will host the Page Sand Devils on Sept. 1.

The next two games are away games and both start at 6 p.m., the only regular season games with different starting times. On Sept. 8, the Bulldogs will be at Chinle to meet the Wildcats. On Sept. 15, they play at Tuba City against the Warriors.

The Bulldogs will remain on the road on Sept. 22 when they journey to Flagstaff to meet the Coconino Panthers.

On Sept. 29, it will be back to Emil Nasser Stadium for a contest against the tough Snowflake Lobos before a trip to Lakeside on Oct. 6 to meet the usually tough Blue Ridge Yellowjackets.

The Payson Longhorns will come to Winslow on Oct. 13, followed by Winslow’s last regular season away game on Oct. 20 against the Roadrunners at Holbrook.

The final regular season home game will be on Oct. 27 against the perennially formable Show Low Cougars.

Coach Brandon Guzman and the Bulldogs will be working toward a good playoff berth and a shot at the state championship.
