In last week’s edition, it was incorrectly noted in the headline that the Bulldogs played against the Elks rather than the Trojans, we apologize for any problems that may have caused. By K. Conner Friday night the Winslow Bulldogs faced the defending 2A champions at the dome in Eager. It was another tough loss for the Bulldogs, however they did avoid the free safety points that had plagued them the last two games. The Elk’s scored first with a nine-yard run by Rylee Hamblin along with a point after, making the score 7-0. Seth Wilbanks made a seven-yard run for the touchdown, bringing the score up to 13-0. This would be followed up by quarterback Owen Young’s 52-yard pass to Javon Ortiz, along with the point after making the final score in the first quarter 19-0. In the second quarter, Young would again find Ortiz on 44-yard pass and the point after, bumping the score up to 26-0. Rowdy Rivera would score on a 38-yard pass plus the point after making it 33-0. Seth Wilbanks on a five-yard run would score and the point after to end the half at 40-0. In the third quarter, Treyson Merrill would score on a five-yard run and the point after making the score 47-0. This would start a running clock for the rest of the game. Winslow’s Jase Lyons screen play would lead to a 71-yard touchdown to Robert “Sonny” Wilbanks, which would also be the final scoring drive of the game making a final score of 47-6. Next Friday, Oct, 30, the Bulldogs will be back home at Nasser Stadium hosting the Blue Ridge Yellowjackets with a 2-1 record.
