Football Winslow

The Winslow Bulldogs will host the Show Low Cougars on Friday, Oct. 27, in a game that has playoff implications for both teams. Both teams got back on the winning track with victories last Friday, thus improving their playoff chances. Both need a victory at Nasser Stadium to seal a playoff berth and a possible first round home game.

The Bulldogs defeated the Roadrunners 52-14 in Holbrook to improve to six wins and three losses and break a three-game losing streak. The Bulldog losses were to Snowflake, 54-28, Blue Ridge, 42-0, and Payson, 20-14. They defeated their first five opponents.

Show Low’s losses were to Round Valley, 41-12 in their season opener, to Casteel, 70-7, and to Blue Ridge, 26-12. Round Valley and Casteel are both undefeated at 9-0.

Both teams lost to Blue Ridge, which is 6-3 with a game with Snowflake remaining. Show Low beat Payson 35-0, while Winslow lost to the Longhorns 20-14. The Cougars also won their most important victory of the season last Friday, defeating Snowflake in 42-8. The Cougars can probably clinch a playoff berth with a win at Winslow.

With both teams coming off important wins and needing a victory to make a playoff berth likely, this should be a very good game.
