Sadly, Byron Christopher Shelendewa passed away on Aug. 22, 2023, at the age of 46. He was born Aug. 18, 1977, to Doris Nequetewa, in Gallup, N.M. He graduated from Holbrook High School in 1995. After high school he had four daughters. Byron was currently employed with the City of Holbrook and a volunteer for the Holbrook Volunteer Fire Department. He was a one-of-a-kind person, always willing to lend a hand when needed. If he wasn’t out helping in the community, you could find him spending time with the joys of his life, his daughters and granddaughter. Byron is survived by his father, Tyson Nequetewa; mother, Doris Nequetewa; sister, Violet Richards; daughters, Kim, Amber, Kamele and Brooklyn; and granddaughter, Oaklynn. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Holbrook Fire Department, located at 100 Airport Road.
