An Overgaard boy has died from an apparent drowning at his home. According to the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office, at 3:45 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, deputies were called to the home of Curtis Harvey and Rebecca Savage, located at 3363 Little Pine Drive, following a 911 call of an unresponsive child. Heber Overgaard Fire responded along with NCSO deputies to the residence where they learned that 5-year-old Donavan had been found submerged in the bathtub and was not breathing. Fire personnel transported the boy to Summit Hospital in Show Low where he was pronounced deceased. According to NCSO, the child may have had a history of seizure-like episodes. After interviewing Harvey, deputies were told that during the night Donavon had vomited and Savage, the boy’s mother, placed him in a bath while she tended to the dirty bedding then discovered him unresponsive. Savage was interviewed at Summit Hospital as to the circumstances surrounding the incident. NCSO Criminal Investigations along with an investigator from the Navajo County Attorney’s Office responded to continue the investigation surrounding Donavan’s death. An autopsy was done as part of an active investigation with the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office.
