Hoping a win in their final regular season game at St. Johns last Tuesday would be enough to propel them into the state playoffs, the Roadrunners played well, shutting out the Redskins 12-0.

The Birds scored twice in the second and held that margin until the fifth frame. In the late innings Holbrook came alive, scoring three in the fifth inning, four in the sixth and three more in the seventh to secure the victory.

Carlos Quintana had a big day in his final game as a Roadrunner, going 4 for 5 with a triple, five RBIs and two stolen bases. Cade Maestas went 1 for 4 with an RBI. Lanny Newton-Pender was 2 for 4 with a double and two stolen bases. Alec Smith was 2 for 2 with two RBIs. Alex Haussman went 1 for 2. Scottie Gishie was 0 for 3, but reached once on an error, drew two walks, stole three bases and scored three runs.

Logan Tsinnijinnie pitched six innings, giving up just four hits with eight strikeouts and walked two. Quintana pitched one inning without a hit and had two strikeouts.

The Birds got the win they needed, but, unfortunately, teams ranked just ahead of them won as well, leaving them in 27th position, just three spots out of the Division III state playoffs. They finished the season with an overall record of 15-11.
