With only three matches left in the regular season, the Roadrunners are in position to enter the state soccer playoffs ranked in the upper half of the 12-team bracket.

Holbrook pulled out a hard fought win over Snowflake last Tuesday, beating the Lobos in Snowflake by a 2-1 final. Theron Johns scored one goal off an assist from James Ramirez and Alec Smith netted the other goal for the Birds. Carlos Quintana was the winning goalie with several saves from his keeper position.

The Roadrunners entered this week ranked sixth in power points, but their schedule will get much tougher in the final three games. After playing at No. 2 Payson on Tuesday, the Birds will host No. 8 Blue Ridge on Thursday, Oct. 16. They wrap up the regular season at No. 3 Show Low on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Holbrook’s regular season record was 8-1 at the start of the week, with the lone loss coming against Show Low.
