Playing in Snowflake last Friday, the Roadrunners matched the Lobos in hits with four from each team, but they couldn’t match them in runs, losing 6-4.

After a scoreless first inning both teams pushed across two runs in the second. Snowflake edged ahead with a single run in the third inning, then pushed that margin to four following a three-run fourth frame. Holbrook cut the lead in half in the top of the fifth, but that was as close as the Birds would get. They certainly had their opportunities, but left 10 runners stranded in the game, including six in the final two innings.

At the plate Nick Robinson had a nice day, going 2 for 3 with a double, a walk and scored once. Carlos Quintana went 0 for 3 but walked once and scored a run, as did Cade Maestas. Tristan Baldonado went 1 for 3 including a double, a walk and collected two RBIs. Trevor Barton went 0 for 3, but drew a walk, stole a base and scored a run. Alex Haussman went 1 for 4 with an RBI.

Quintana worked six innings on the hill, facing 26 Lobo batters. He pitched well, giving up six runs, only three earned, on four hits with 11 strikeouts and walked just three.

With the loss the Roadrunners dropped their season mark to 5-3. After opening the week at home on Monday against Round Valley, they will host Window Rock on Friday, March 20. During spring break they will host Chinle on Tuesday, March 24, then be off until Monday, March 30, when they play Mogollon at Heber.
