Hosting Blue Ridge last Friday night, the Holbrook Roadrunners stayed close in the first period behind eight points from Hayden Kinlichee, but the second quarter belonged to the Yellowjackets. Blue Ridge drilled six three-point shots, helping the ‘Jackets to a 41-23 halftime cushion.

Usually it is Holbrook that scorches the nets from distance, but Blue Ridge turned the tables on the Birds by making a total of 14 treys while keeping Holbrook at just three for the game to finish off the Roadrunners by a final of 74-47.

Holbrook was paced by Tynen Thomas with 14 points. Kinlichee and Damian Begay added 10 each; Tyrell Nelson, 6; Lane Goldtooth, Jayden Johns and Josiah Freddie, 2 each; and Korey McReeves, 1. Holbrook finished with three treys and went 8 for 22 at the line.

With the loss the Roadrunners fell to 5-5 on the season. They will host Monument Valley on Thursday, Dec. 22, in a game that tips off at 5 p.m. Following that game they will be off until Friday, Jan. 6, when they host Show Low.
