By Greg Perkins Hosting Window Rock on Saturday afternoon proved to be slightly more than a practice for the Holbrook Roadrunners, who no hit the Scouts in a 17-0 shutout win. Holbrook scored 11 first inning runs, setting the tone for the overmatched visitors. Playing with the big early lead the Birds added just two in the second, one run in the third and three final runs in the fourth frame. The team collected 12 hits, made no errors and left six on base. The Scouts were hitless and made eight errors on defense, hurting their chances even further. Trevor Barton, Justin Perkins and Cade Maestas combined for the no hit shutout on the hill. Collectively, they tallied nine strikeouts and walked just two batters. At the plate, Gabe Gabaldon went 1 for 2; Maestas, 2 for 4 with a triple; Nick Robinson, 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles; Michael O’Brien, 2 for 2 with a double; Alex Haussman, 2 for 3; Scottie Gishie, 1 for 2 with a triple; and Delano Anaya, 1 for 2. The win improved the Roadrunners’ overall record to 4-2. After playing at Show Low on Tuesday afternoon, they will travel to Chino Valley for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 12. On Tuesday, March 15, they play at rival Winslow.
