It’s Homecoming tonight (Sept. 25) in Holbrook, and the Roadrunners will host Greyhills Academy. Tonight’s game culminates what has been the traditional weeklong menu of daily activities at the high school.

After last week’s loss to Monument Valley, Roadrunner players and fans alike need something to cheer about. The Knights from Greyhills will provide just the elixir everyone needs. Greyhills comes into the game 0-3, having been shutout in its past two games. The Knights have only scored two touchdowns this season. Holbrook will score early and often in this game. The Roadrunner offense hasn’t scored a second half touchdown since week one of the season, but you can expect several touchdowns in the second half of this game if things go according to plan. This game will be over early and the running clock rule should go into effect in the second half, sending everyone home early.

Winslow sits at 2-2 after last week’s loss to Coronado. The Bulldogs host Fountain Hills tonight, which comes in 1-3, having won its first game of the season last week over Page. This Homecoming game will give Bulldog fans a barometer as to where their team stands compared to Show Low, Snowflake and Blue Ridge. Snowflake shut out the Falcons two weeks ago, 40-0. Playing at home will help the Dawgs prevail in this contest. They most likely won’t have the same set of numbers as the Snowflake game, but should leave the field with the same result, moving their season mark to 3-2.

Snowflake plays host to Florence tonight. The Lobos’ shutout streak ended in last week’s 38-6 win at Coolidge, but they are still considered by many to be the best team not only on the mountain, but in all of Division IV.

Last week the Gophers lost to Blue Ridge 15-14 in double overtime. Don’t expect this game to be that close. The Lobos may give up another score, but they will once again post plenty of points on their side of the ledger to move to 5-0.

Joseph City makes the long trip to Fredonia for a 1 p.m. Saturday game against the Lynx. The Wildcats come in at 3-2 and will see a 1-2 Fredonia team they have soundly beaten in each of the past three seasons.

Fredonia has already lost to Mogollon this season, 64-12. Joseph City can use this game to see where it stands against the rival Mustangs. The Wildcats should win, but will the margin be as large as the Mustangs’ was?
