During the Aug. 8 meeting of the Navajo County Board of Supervisors, County Attorney Brad Carlyon presented a token of appreciation to Show Low resident Thin Thai for his dedication and generous support of the Navajo County Family Advocacy Center.
The center provides victims of domestic violence throughout the county with a safe and friendly environment, and helps to coordinate legal and medical aspects of abuse cases.
Thai is credited with catering fundraising events for the center at no charge, and being perpetually available to help in any way. Carlyon said, “He has been there from the day we opened our doors asking, ‘What can I do to help?’”
Thai responded to the accolades with, “I had an opportunity to come to this country 30 some years ago, and I just return back to the community what it’s given to me.”
Mentioning the upcoming golf tournament to raise funds for the Family Advocacy Center, Carlyon added, “It is people like Thai that make our community so great.” The event is open to the public and will take place Sept. 8 at Torreon Golf Club in Show Low, 651 Torreon Court.
County Treasurer Debra Kester presented the annual report of collections and delinquencies. According to Kester, the collection rate of delinquent taxes remains essentially the same as last year at 96.2 percent.
