Ten new teachers and 13 additional personnel will start work when the new school year begins for the Snowflake Unified School District on Thursday, Aug. 11. “It’s uncommon in this economy to bring on so many new people,” said District Superintendent Hollis Merrell, “but we had a lot of people leave through retirement and attrition last year.” Teachers joining the district include: Connor Macleod, who will teach junior high English; Janilee Macleod, teacher of high school and junior high music; Susanne Berger, who will teach sixth grade at Snowflake Intermediate School; and Sheila Burke, a new pre-school teacher. Other teachers are Tracy Breedlove, second grade at Taylor Elementary School; Gregory Hanna, high school science; Teresa Kenedy, high school resource teacher; Elizabeth Tang, junior high self-contained teacher; Stanley Shumway, high school Spanish; and Gregory Schindler, high school agricultural education. The district has also hired the following individuals to fill various positions: Tifani Black, Billie Jo Starks, Amanda Phillip, Mary Smorong, Gregory Adams, Stephanie Stevens, Melody Kiester, Casidhe Starks, Jacquelyn Wolfe, Starrli Flake, Melissa Fletcher and Greg Hudson.
