The Lady Roadrunners started their season at home on Thursday when Chino Valley came to town. Playing in hot conditions with only 11 players in uniform, Holbrook held their own through the first half and trailed just 5-0 at the break. In the second half, the Ladies ran out of gas and had to play one player short due to an injury. Chino Valley took advantage and ended the game at the midpoint of the second half with an 8-0 mercy win.

Holbrook did have a few scoring opportunities, but missed 2 penalty kicks, which would have made the outcome a little closer.

This week, Holbrook will host Page in a doubleheader for boys and girls on Wednesday. The Ladies will start at 4 p.m., and the boys will follow that up at 6 p.m.

Holbrook’s boys team will have opened its season the day before at Grand Canyon on Tuesday afternoon, then will face Page on Wednesday.
