Snowflake has one regular season game left, which they will play at Holbrook on Monday afternoon. The Lobos entered Saturday’s home game with Kingman ranked 10th in the 3A rankings but may drop due to their loss to the Bulldogs.

The week started at home vs the Roadrunners in a closer than expected 6-2 Snowflake win. Holbrook came ready to play and matched the Lobos with 1 first inning run. Holbrook held a brief lead with another run in the second. Snowflake took the lead for good with 2 runs in the second. They added 2 more in the fifth, and 1 final run in the sixth securing the win.

Edge Bryant led the team at the plate going 3 for 4. Maverick Greer was 2 for 3; Kasen Rogers, 1 for 3; Kyler Matthews, 1 for 4 with a double; and Travis Flake went 1 for 3.

Kyler Matthews pitched the first six innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 8 strikeouts and walked 5. Jaxon Merrill closed the game in the seventh with just 1 hit, a strikeout and a walk.

Hosting Kingman on Saturday, the Lobos were surprised by the 15th ranked Bulldogs. Kingman came to town and snapped Snowflake’s four game win streak handing the Lobos a 10-1 defeat.

The game was close until the top of the seventh. Kingman led 2-0 at that point but the roof fell in on Snowflake. Kingman scored 8 runs in the top of the seventh to seize the win.

The Lobos were held to just 1 hit in the loss.

Regardless of Monday’s outcome in Holbrook, the Lobos will more than likely be hosting a play-in game on Wednesday this week. If they finish ranked between ninth and 16th as expected they will host a lower seeded team on Wednesday. With a win in that game, they would be reseeded into the first round of the 3A state playoffs which gets underway on Tuesday, May 5, at high seed sites.

Snowflake entered Monday with an overall record of 14-8-1. They are 12-4 in regular season games.
