The Lady Roadrunners split their final two regular season games played last week and will not enter postseason play in the pool bracket of the 3A state championship tournament.

Hosting Alchesay on Tuesday night in front of a jam-packed Munoz Gym, Holbrook trailed early but battled back to tie the game at 11-11 by the end of the first quarter. Channing Harrington and Bailey Williams each hit from deep in the quarter.

The Falcons pulled out to a 9-point lead at the half, but Holbrook cut 2 points off that lead in the third. Holbrook trailed by 10 points with less than two minutes left in the game, but made a late game rally behind Harrington, Williams and Angelica Uranga Williams, all in the fourth. That trio combined for 18 of Holbrook’s 20 points in the final eight minutes. The Ladies just came up a bit short in the 50-49 final score.

Williams led in scoring with 18 points. Uranga Williams and Harrington each added 12. Mackenzie Kescoli hit one 3-point shot and Sami Thomas had one field goal for 2 points.

The following night Holbrook was in Blue Ridge to cap the regular season. They trailed by a single point at the end of the first but led 25-19 at the half. In the third, Holbrook extended its lead by one point. In the final frame the Roadrunners pulled away, winning the game 56-41.

Williams led the way with 21 points. Harrington added 17; Uranga Williams, 9; Ava Mann, 4; Kescoli, 2; Jamie Bain, 2; and Darien Kedelty finished with 2 in the win.

With the win 15th ranked Holbrook wrapped up the regular season with an overall record of 14-13. They will play in the postseason on Thursday when they host No. 18 ALA West Foothills in the pool bracket of the 3A state championship.

With a win Holbrook would advance in the state tournament bracket to face an opponent yet to be determined due to the first round of the Copper tournament being played first. If the Lady Birds win Thursday’s game this week, they would play on Wednesday next week. The location of that game is dependent on the outcome of first round games.
