The Lady Lobos traveled to Show Low on Tuesday last week for a much-anticipated match with a Cougar team that had beaten them once this year during a tournament. While Show Low is much improved this season, Snowflake reminded them who is still the boss in the 3A East with a straight sets win 25-22, 25-23 and 25-15.
Bryn Kupfer took charge at the nets, finishing with 11 kills. Ryah Denhalter added 5, Alyssa Peterson had 4 and Mairead Stradling had 4.
Lucy Lyman served 3 aces. Taya Schneider added 2 aces. Schneider led with 14 digs. Lyman added 13, and Peterson had 11. Schneider also led the team in assists, finishing the night with 12. Hailey Jones did her part with 8 assists.
Hosting Blue Ridge on Thursday night, the Lobos avoided a letdown, taking care of the Yellowjackets in three straight sets as well.
Snowflake enters the penultimate week of the regular season ranked third in the 3A rankings with an 11-2 record. This week, they will play at Alchesay on Tuesday, then host Benjamin Franklin on Thursday. On Monday, they welcome Winslow. Their final regular-season game will be next Wednesday when they make the short trip to Holbrook.
The 3A state tournament begins on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Millennium High School.
