The Lobo boys’ soccer team advanced its current regular win streak to 11 straight games with two road wins last week.

Playing in Winslow on Monday, they easily defeated the winless Bulldogs by a final score of 10-0. Two days later, they were in Round Valley for a much more competitive game against a one-win Elks team. The Lobos won that game 5-2.

Snowflake has just three games remaining in the regular season. Tuesday, they play at No. 8 St. Johns, then Friday they will host No. 6 Blue Ridge. Snowflake’s final game will be a home tilt with No. 5 Show Low on Oct. 21.

The third-ranked Lobos should easily qualify for the postseason, which gets underway on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The top eight teams in the final rankings qualify for the state tournament. Snowflake is 12-1 overall in regular season matches entering their final three games.

The Lady Lobos are also ranked third currently, with an 8-1-1 regular season record. Last week, they picked up an easy 9-0 road win at Winslow, then battled to a 4-4 tie with fifth-ranked Blue Ridge on Thursday.

Like the boys team, they have three regular season games left, although their opponents are different. Tuesday, they will host Blue Ridge, then next Monday, they will host Chino Valley. They finish the regular season on Wednesday, the 22nd, in Payson. If the Ladies can finish the season ranked sixth or higher, they will also qualify for postseason play. In girls’ fall soccer, only the top six teams advance to the playoffs.
