Visiting ALA-West Foothills proved no match for the homefield Lobos on Friday night. Snowflake’s defense set the tone on the first ALA possession of the game, pushing them backwards and forcing an early punt.
The Lobos’ first drive ended in points when Jacob LaDuke found the endzone from 2 yards out. McCoy Norton’s PAT was good, giving the Lobos a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter.
After trading punts, the Lobos found the endzone again, this time a 20-yard run by Brenner Green early in the second period. Norton’s PAT extended the lead to 14-0.
Following a Hayden Nichols interception, Snowflake put more points on the board with a 6-yard run by LaDuke. The kick by Norton extended the Lobo lead to 21-0 late in the first half.
Mason Raban then picked off a Foothills pass in the final seconds, which set up a 30-yard field goal from Norton extending Snowflake’s lead to 24-0 at the half.
ALA Foothills got on the board with a 36-yard field goal early in the second half.
Snowflake answered early in the fourth on a 7-yard scoring run by Green, extending the Lobo lead to 30-3.
ALA put the final points on the board midway through the fourth period, which resulted in a 30-10 Snowflake win.
LaDuke completed 8 of 21 passes for 90 yards but threw two interceptions. Christian Smith led the receiver corps with 50 yards on 3 catches. Gionn Jones caught two for 20. Raban had 2 for 18, Ryder Williams had one 12-yard catch, and Colter Willis had a short 2-yard grab.
Green led the ground attack with 117 yards and two scores on 23 carries. LaDuke rushed 14 times, gaining 44 yards and also found paydirt twice. Nichols gained 6 yards; Maverick Greer; 4 yards; Zander Alcantar, 4 yards; and Talmage Lucas picked up 3 yards.
Irvin King and Nichols led the defensive unit with seven tackles apiece.
With the win, the Lobos improve to 2-0. This week, they travel to Prescott to take on Bradshaw Mountain. The Bears are 1-1 this season and are coming off a 54-8 win over Independence last week.
