Low participation numbers have really hampered both Roadrunner soccer teams thus far this season.
Holbrook’s boys’ team did travel to Camp Verde on Tuesday last week, and played well through the first half, but playing with no subs on the bench took its toll in the second half, and the Cowboys eventually prevailed 11-1.
Holbrook was scheduled to play in St. Johns on Thursday but had to forfeit that game due to not having enough players to start the game. If they can field a team, they are scheduled to host Payson on Thursday this week, as the second game of a doubleheader at Roadrunner Stadium.
The Lady Roadrunners have yet to start their season. Their first game is scheduled for Monday this week with a trip to Chino Valley. Their busy week continues on Wednesday when they host St. Johns, then on Thursday, they will play the first game of the doubleheader at Roadrunner Stadium when they host Camp Verde. The start time for that game is 4 p.m. Holbrook’s boys’ team will face Payson in the second game beginning at 6 p.m.
Next Tuesday, the Lady Birds are scheduled to travel to Payson.
