The Lady Lobos played two games last week with two very different outcomes. Each game was completed under the 10-run rule, but the Lady Lobos were on both sides of those final scores.

Playing in Holbrook on Tuesday, Snowflake had no problems handling the Lady Roadrunners. It took a couple of innings for them to get untracked, but eventually, they were able to tee off on Holbrook’s pitching in the third frame, where they scored 15 runs en route to a 16-0 shutout win in five innings.

Snowflake finished with six extra base hits out of their team’s total 16 hits in the win. Five different players had at least a double. Graycee Skousen went 3 for 4 with 2 triples. Brooklynn Lovingood went 2 for 3 with a double. Kashlynn Cantrell was 2 for 4 with a double. Brynlee Bryant went 2 for 4 with a double. Taya Schneider went 3 for 3 with a double. Aundrea Abeita was 1 for 1. Kloe Burden went 1 for 3.

Cantrell pitched a no-hitter for Snowflake. She struck out 9 Roadrunner batters and walked just two in a strong performance.

Friday’s game in Show Low had a different result. Things started well enough with the Lobos scoring 4 first inning runs, then adding 2 in the second to lead temporarily 6-0. The lead evaporated quickly in the bottom of the second when the Cougars scored 7 runs. Show Low added 1 more in each the third and fourth, before Snowflake countered with two in the fifth, making the score 8-9 through five innings.

Snowflake edged in front 10-9, with two runs in the top of the sixth. However, Show Low exploded for 11 runs in the bottom of the sixth to close out the Lobos by a final of 20-10.

Snowflake hit the ball well, finishing with 12 hits, but that paled in comparison to Show Low’s 19-hit performance.

Skousen went 3 for 4 with a home run. Bryant was 3 for 4 with a home run. Schneider went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. Brooklyn Livingood went 1 for 4 with a double. Cantrell was 1 for 3. Riley Perkins went 1 for 4.

Cantrell worked 5.2 innings, giving up 18 runs on 17 hits with 6 strikeouts and walked just 2. Kloe Burden pitched the final third of an inning, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits with a pair of walks.

With the split, the Lobos moved to 5-1 in regular season games, and they are now 7-4 overall.

This week, they will host Blue Ridge on Tuesday, then will welcome Alchesay on Friday. Next Tuesday, they will play at Winslow.
