The Lobo boys soccer team split their two matches played in what was their penultimate week of the regular season. Hosting upstart Winslow on Tuesday night, they cruised to a mercy rule shortened 13-0 win over the new Bulldogs.
The following night they could have used a few of those goals. Snowflake played great defensively but couldn’t find the net on offense in what resulted in a 2-1 road loss at Chino Valley.
Snowflake will put the final touches on their regular season this week with two matches. Tuesday they will host St. Johns for their final home match of the season, then Thursday the team travels to Lakeside to take on Blue Ridge.
Snowflake enters this week ranked sixth with a 6-3 record. If they can remain inside the top eight in the final rankings they will play in the 2A soccer playoffs.
The Lady Lobos enter their final two games ranked fourth with a 7-3 mark. They picked up two wins this past week, one with ease and the other was a nail biter. Hosting Winslow on Tuesday, they defeated the visitors 10-0. Two days later they were in St. Johns where they battled their way to a 1-0 win over the Lady Redskins.
Like the boys team, they have two games left but they will have two weeks to finish out their regular season schedule. This week they travel to Blue Ridge on Tuesday. They will wrap up their regular season next Wednesday with a home match vs Payson. If Snowflake can stay inside the top six in the rankings they will advance to postseason play.
