The Lady Roadrunners volleyball team split their two matches played last week. They defeated Alchesay for the second time this season on Tuesday night, then made the long journey north to face highly ranked Monument Valley on Saturday afternoon.
Playing at Canyon Day School on Tuesday, Holbrook won in three straight games. They took the first game 25-13, and the second 25-15. Game three was closer, with Holbrook securing the match with a 25-20 win.
Saturday’s trip to Kayenta didn’t go as well. The Lady Mustangs proved worthy of their No. 4 overall ranking with a 3-0 win. They have just one regular season loss this season. Holbrook came into the game with a little momentum after defeating Alchesay earlier in the week, however, Monument Valley quickly quelled that momentum winning the match; 25-15, 25-16, and 25-17.
With that loss, Holbrook saw their regular season record drop to 2-11. With four matches left, Holbrook is positioned well outside the top 24 in power rankings. If they entertain any hopes of advancing to the postseason, they will most likely need to run the table in the final four games. The team plays just once during fall break when they travel to Winslow on Tuesday. Next week they will be in Lakeside on the 22nd, taking on the Lady Yellowjackets.
