The Lady Roadrunners continued their late-season slide last week dropping all three volleyball matches they played to continue what is a five-match losing streak.
Monday night the Ladies battled tough with visiting Payson before falling 2-3 in five games. Holbrook won the first game 25-21, then dropped the second 18-25. They bounced back taking game three 25-21 only to see Payson get game four 23-25. The deciding fifth game went to the Longhorns 7-15.
The following night, Holbrook again went to five games in a 2-3 road loss at Winslow. The Bulldogs took game one 17-25, but Holbrook fought back winning game two 26-24. Game three was close as well with Winslow prevailing 23-25. Holbrook forced a fifth game with a 25-21 game-four win. The final game went to the Bulldogs 9-15.
Hosting Snowflake on Thursday night the Roadrunners just had no answer for the Lobo’s power game. Snowflake won in three straight games, 25-6, 25-19, and 25-12.
Holbrook has one regular season match left. On Wednesday they will travel to Payson for a rematch with the Longhorns. The Roadrunners entered this week ranked 25th in the power point rankings and will more than likely need a win in Payson to advance to the 3A play-in games, which would be held on Halloween night at sites of the higher-seeded teams.
Holbrook enters the final week of the season with a regular season record of 5-11.
