Holbrook dropped both matches played last week, both in similar fashion and both were tough to handle. Hosting Chinle on Tuesday night, the Lady Roadrunners built a 2-0 lead, taking game one 25-19 and game two 25-22. Chinle countered, winning game three 25-13, and tied the match with a 25-14 win in game four. Game five, which is supposed to be played to just 15 points was a marathon, with Chinle eventually prevailing 24-22 to win the match 3 -2.
Hosting Tuba City on Friday, the result was the same. Holbrook won the first two games, then dropped games three and four. The decisive fifth game went to the Lady Warriors leaving Holbrook with another loss in a match in which they led two games to zero.
That loss dropped their regular season match record to 2-2. After playing in Ganado on Monday this week, they will be in action at the “Be Like Nat” Tournament, hosted by Snowflake this weekend. Holbrook will face Tuba City, Chinle and ALA Queen Creek in pool play on Friday. Next week they open east region play at Blue Ridge on Tuesday, followed by a trip to Show Low on Thursday.
