The Wildcats opened the season on Friday night with a resounding loss to Lincoln Prep. The Lightning had little problems with the young Wildcats, handing them a 52-20 defeat on the road. Joseph City currently has just one senior listed on their roster.

Joseph City is once again under the direction of head coach Shawn Layden, but they had to replace nine seniors who they lost to graduation off of last year’s 5-4 team.

Lincoln Prep had a similar record last year but was playing their second game of the season this year following a 66-6 week-one win over Anthem Prep.

This week the Wildcats are having their home opener when they host Ray on Friday night. The Bearcats are 1-1 through two weeks this year having lost big to St. David in the first week and they picked up a 34-30 win over Valley Union last week.

Joseph City won last year’s match-up 39-20 at Ray High School. With a young group, the Wildcats will have a re-building season.
