The Lady Lobos really struggled prior to the holiday break, going winless in their first five regular season contests. They have since had time to improve and showed improvement in their first game back despite a 10-point loss.

Playing on Thursday at Pima, who is unbeaten in regular season play and ranked third in the 2A rankings, the Lady Lobos lost the game 41-31. While it is still a loss, the final outcome was much closer than some other east region teams have fared against a very tall Pima team. The bottom line, however, is the Lobos remain winless in regular season play and they need to dig themselves out of their current 38th-place rankings in the 3A power points.

Their schedule won’t get easier at least to start this week when they travel to Winslow on Tuesday. The Bulldogs may be the class of the region, at least when they are healthy. These two teams met prior to Christmas in what was a 57-37 Bulldog win. On Thursday the Lobos will face a much smaller but quick Ganado Hornets team. Friday will be a trip to Payson to take on the much-improved and 12th-ranked Lady Longhorns. Next Wednesday, the Lobos will host Window Rock in what will be their final non-region opponent, before playing just east region teams the rest of the way.

Snowflake enters this week with an overall record of 3-9 and they are 0-6 in regular season contests.
