By Linda Kor The Holbrook Emergency Food Bank filled a lot of bellies this holiday season, with volunteers delivering 120 food boxes to families in the community. According to food bank president Mike Nilsson, the food bank purchased $10,000 in food from the local Safeway story with funds provided by the United Way and local churches. In the course of two days, volunteers filled and distributed the boxes to families that requested them and those who were recommended. This is a long-standing annual event for the food bank, which was formed by life-long resident Marlin Gillespie decades ago. Throughout the year families in need can request emergency food on four separate occasions as the need arises.
